These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the BillKit website hosted at https://billkit.app and the BillKit application ("App"). By using this website or App, you agree to these Terms.
These terms cover both this website and the BillKit App available through the macOS App Store.
The BillKit Service

This website provides information about the BillKit App, including features, documentation, and support resources.
BillKit App
The BillKit App is an expense tracking application for macOS that:
- Uses AI to automatically extract data from invoice files
- Stores all data locally on your Mac
- Sends invoice files to third-party AI providers (Claude or OpenAI) for processing
- Provides spending analytics and reports
- Supports multi-currency expense tracking
- Requires an internet connection for AI invoice processing and subscription verification
Apple App Store End-User License Agreement
The following terms apply specifically to your use of the BillKit App downloaded from the Apple Mac App Store. These terms are required by Apple and supplement the general terms above.
Acknowledgement
You acknowledge that this End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is between you and CodelDev only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). CodelDev, not Apple, is solely responsible for the BillKit App and its content. This EULA does not provide usage rules that conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, which you acknowledge you have had the opportunity to review.
Scope of License
CodelDev grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the BillKit App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The App may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing programs.
Maintenance and Support
CodelDev is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support services for the BillKit App, as specified in this EULA or as required under applicable law. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
Warranty
CodelDev is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of the BillKit App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are CodelDev's sole responsibility.
Product Claims
You acknowledge that CodelDev, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims you or any third party may have relating to the BillKit App or your possession and/or use of the App, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
Intellectual Property Claims
In the event of any third-party claim that the BillKit App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, CodelDev, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
Legal Compliance
You represent and warrant that: (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-Party Terms
You agree to comply with all applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the BillKit App. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Your agreement with your internet service provider
- The terms of service for any AI provider you choose to use (Anthropic or OpenAI)
- Apple's Terms of Service for the Mac App Store
Third-Party Beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA. Upon your acceptance of the terms and conditions of this EULA, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce this EULA against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.

Acceptable Use

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:

- Allow other accounts associated with you to access the App via Family Sharing or volume purchasing
- Access this website for its intended purposes
- Use our documentation for App support
Privacy and Data
Your Data Ownership
- All expense data generated by the App belongs to you, including expenses, categories, vendors, and invoice files
- We have no access to your App data as it's stored locally

Third-Party AI Processing
By using BillKit's AI invoice processing features, you acknowledge that:

- AI providers process your invoice data according to their own privacy policies and terms
- We do not control how AI providers handle your data during processing
- You are responsible for reviewing and accepting your chosen AI provider's terms of service
- AI processing costs are paid directly to your chosen provider, not to us
Data Collection and Privacy
No Data Collection
BillKit does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data to our servers. The app:
- Does not collect crash reports or diagnostic data
- Does not include analytics or usage tracking
- Stores all expense data locally on your Mac
- Never uploads your financial information to our servers
Third-Party Data Processing
While BillKit itself collects no data, invoice processing requires sending files to third-party AI providers:
- Invoice files are sent to your chosen AI provider for processing
- AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) have their own privacy policies
- We cannot control or guarantee how AI providers handle your data
- Review your AI provider's privacy policy before using BillKit
Subscription Management (Pro Users)
If you subscribe to BillKit Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by the Mac App Store. Apple collects and processes:
- Your Apple ID and payment information
- Subscription status and billing history
BillKit may verify your subscription status with the App Store to enable Pro features, but we do not store your payment details or personal information.
BillKit Pro Subscriptions
Subscription Terms
BillKit Pro is offered as a monthly subscription through the Mac App Store. All subscription payments, billing, and management are handled by Apple according to their Terms of Service. By subscribing you agree to:
- Recurring monthly charges processed by Apple through your Apple ID payment method
- Automatic renewal unless you cancel through your App Store subscription settings
- Apple's standard subscription terms and conditions
Managing Your Subscription
To view, modify, or cancel your BillKit Pro subscription:
- Open System Settings on your Mac
- Navigate to your Apple ID account settings
- Select "Media & Purchases" and manage your subscriptions
- Changes take effect at the end of your current billing period
Upon cancellation, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period, after which your account reverts to Free tier limits. All your data remains intact.
Refund Policy
All refund requests for BillKit Pro subscriptions are handled by Apple according to their refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund:

- Find your BillKit Pro subscription purchase
- Follow Apple's refund request process
Refund eligibility and processing are determined solely by Apple under their terms and conditions.
Disclaimers and Warranties
App Performance
The BillKit App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Compatibility with all hardware or software configurations
- That the App will meet your specific requirements
- That exported data will be compatible with all accounting software
AI Processing Accuracy
While BillKit's AI processing aims for high accuracy, we do not guarantee:
- 100% accuracy in data extraction from all invoice types
- Correct extraction from handwritten, damaged, or unusual invoice formats
- That all invoice fields will be extracted successfully
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-extracted data before approving expenses
Website Content
Website information is provided for general informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep information current but do not guarantee accuracy or completeness.
System Requirements
The BillKit App requires:
- macOS 14.6+ (Sonoma) or later
- Compatible software for full functionality
- Approximately 500MB of free disk space
- Internet connection for AI processing (if used) and subscription verification
- API key from Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI for invoice processing (if used)
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Our total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for your BillKit subscription in the 12 months prior to any claim
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for data loss (though the App stores data locally)
- We are not liable for third-party software compatibility issues
App Updates and Support
Updates
- We may provide App updates periodically
- Updates may include bug fixes, new features, or security improvements
- We are not obligated to provide updates indefinitely
- Older App versions may become unsupported over time
Support
- We provide reasonable support for the current App version
- Support is provided through our website contact methods
- We aim to respond to support requests within 72 hours
- Support may be limited for significantly outdated App versions
Termination
Your Rights
You may stop using our services at any time by:
- Uninstalling the BillKit App
- Ceasing to visit this website
- Deleting any locally stored App data
