How it’s calculated
Net terms count calendar days from the invoice date: Net 30 means payment is due 30 days after the invoice date. EOM (end of month) means payment is due on the last day of the month the invoice is dated in; Net 30 EOM means 30 days after the end of that month.
Due date (Net N) = Invoice date + N daysDue date (EOM) = Last day of the invoice monthDue date (Net N EOM) = Last day of the invoice month + N daysDays remaining = Due date − Today
Frequently asked questions
What does Net 30 mean on an invoice?
Payment is due 30 calendar days after the invoice date. An invoice dated 1 March on Net 30 terms is due on 31 March.
What does EOM mean in payment terms?
EOM means “end of month”. On its own it usually means payment is due at the end of the month in which the invoice is dated. “Net 30 EOM” means 30 days after the end of that month. Spell the exact due date out on the invoice to avoid confusion.
Do weekends and holidays count?
Payment terms normally count calendar days, including weekends and holidays. If the due date falls on a non-business day, many businesses pay on the next business day — your contract decides.
Which payment terms should I use?
Shorter terms (due on receipt, Net 7 or Net 14) improve cash flow for freelancers and small businesses. Larger clients often insist on Net 30–60. Some jurisdictions cap B2B payment terms, for example at 60 days in many EU countries unless expressly agreed.
